To begin with: the infamous "Butcher Album" by The Beatles. The original cover for the Beatles' "Yesterday and Today" understandably caused some controversy, thus (after they were recalled) most had a more conventional cover pasted over the original. Estimated to be worth $40,000 for mint first state stereo copies. $150 to $10,000 for other pressings and conditions.
The Sex Pistol's 1977 album "God save the Queen" (UK A&M 7” 45 RPM with mailer, 1977). Estimated worth: $22,000.
The Velvet Underground's 1966 album "The Velvet Underground and Nico" (US Album Acetate, in plain sleeve, 1966 with alternate versions of tracks from official release). Estimated worth: over $400,000.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 album "Wedding Album" (USA Capital LP Acetate with hand written sleeve notes) Currently on sale at Forever Vinyl for $50,000.
Wow. I never thought records could be worth that much.
